After seven long months, football fans can rejoice; the season is almost here.

As college and pro teams across the country begin training camp, RVers should be doing the same. Shoulder pads and helmets won’t be necessary, but there are a few pieces of equipment that are key to a successful season. Dust off the grill and gear up for the season with some new RV tailgate accessories. Finally, as teams make travel plans for upcoming road games, you can start making your plans too. Lazydays RV is here to help RVers get ready for football season with trip ideas, must-have accessories and more!

Gear Up with the Perfect Tools for Tailgating Glory

On the gridiron, the best gear yields the best results. Whether it’s a pair of cleats with the right traction or gloves that make catching errant throws easier, the right equipment can make or break a game. The same goes for tailgating. Showing up to the lot with the right accessories can turn an ordinary tailgate into a legendary one.

It all starts at the grill. When choosing the right grill for your RV, the first decision is whether to go with charcoal or gas. Some BBQ experts argue that charcoal offers much better quality and flavor, while others argue that gas does just as good a job. Some RV models feature attached gas grills, which is something that should be considered if you are a dedicated tailgater looking to upgrade or purchase a new RV.

Besides a grill, there are other accessories that are crucial to a great tailgate. A few tables and coolers are key so that you have plenty of room for snacks and refreshments. A sun blocker is a great way to create a cool space for guests to relax and watch TV. A cornhole set and other games are fun accessories to keep fans of all ages entertained. An external TV or soundbar are game-changing features that can take a tailgate to another level.

Must Make RV Trips for Football Fans

Listing all our favorite stadiums for RV tailgating is impossible. RVers could dedicate an entire fall to visiting a new stadium every weekend and barely grace the tip of the iceberg. In the meantime, we’ve put together a list featuring a few of our favorite college and pro football stadiums that are great for game-day RV tailgating.

Ben Hill Griffin Stadium – University of Florida

Home of the Florida Gators, Ben Hill Griffin Stadium features all the best aspects of SEC football: passionate fans, a great team, a lively stadium atmosphere and great tailgating. Located on the north end of campus, “The Swamp” gets especially rowdy during SEC games against in-conference rivals like LSU and their yearly clash with Florida State.

Downtown Gainesville offers plenty of fun restaurants and bars for folks to enjoy before and after the game. RVers should arrive a day or two before the game to experience this lively Florida college-town. Besides the tailgate, any football fan’s pre-game experience should include a tour of Heavener Complex and checking out the Gator Walk. During the game, make sure to take part in the Gator Chomp to fit right in with the crowd.

Neyland Stadium – University of Tennessee

Neyland Stadium at the University of Tennessee offers a traditional SEC experience on a grand scale. The stadium has an official capacity of 102,455 people, which makes it the 4th largest stadium in the US and the 5th largest in the world. A stop at a Volunteer’s game against heated rivals Alabama, Vanderbilt or Kentucky is a must on your next RV trip to Tennessee.

With tons of fun activities like a trip to the Knoxville Zoo or a night in the Old City, RVers should get into town a day or two before the game. On the day of the game, make sure to head to your lot at least 6 hours before kickoff to secure a prime spot. The Vol Walk, a pregame parade that takes place two hours before kickoff, is the perfect way to get into the full spirit of Tennessee football.

Raymond James Stadium – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

One of the more unique stadiums in the entire country, the first thing that visitors to Raymond James Stadium will notice is the replica pirate ship in the north end zone. With cannons that fire every time the Bucs score, enter the red zone or win, the ship is one of the many things that make a football Sunday in Tampa a can’t-miss experience.

RVers who have an RV tailgater spot at the Lazydays RV Tailgating Lot can enjoy gameday fun with tailgating-themed activities and family friendly games. Once inside the stadium, Bucs Beach brings the sand, sun and fun of the Bay straight to the stadium. This pre-game space features music, live performances and tailgate games. Tiki bar huts feature signature drinks that fans can enjoy in a hammock under the shade of palm trees. RVers looking for the best Tampa Bay Buccaneers pre-game experience can enter to win a gameday RV tailgate from Lazydays RV. The prize package includes 4 tickets to the Dec. 29th Buccaneers game, pre-game RV use in the Lazydays RV Tailgating Lot and a meet and greet with Gene Deckerhoff, the voice of the Bucs!

Broncos Stadium at Mile High

Preparing for the altitude is something most RVers do not worry about when getting ready for a tailgate, but it’s one of the unique parts about attending a Denver Bronco’s home game. Broncos Stadium at Mile High features one of the loudest crowds in the NFL and some of the friendliest fans in the league.

Fans can check out the Mile High Monument, a small replica of the old Mile High Stadium that celebrates the memory and tradition of the Broncos’ old home. The Ring of Fame Plaza includes monuments honoring legendary Broncos’ players like John Elway and Terrell Davis.

Head in early to catch Thunderstorm, the Broncos’ skydiving team, parachute into midfield. Thunder, a purebred Arabian gelding, serves as the team’s mascot and charges the length of the field for every Broncos’ touchdown.

RVers heading to Mile High for a game can enter to win a gameday RV tailgate. The prize package features tickets to the December 29th game, pre-game RV use in the Lazydays RV Tailgating Lot, a Lazydays RV tailgating package and a player autographed Broncos helmet.
