Spring is here, and the weather is taking a turn for the best. This means now is the perfect time to pack up your RV and hit the road. One of the best places in the US to visit during this time is the South.

The humidity is mild compared to other warmer parts of the year, the scenery is beautiful, and the peak travel season is still a couple of months away. Rich in history, culture, great food, and entertainment, the Southern states have something to offer everyone. Check out these cities to visit on an RV road trip through the South:

Tampa, FL

Start, or end your RV road trip through the South in Tampa, FL. The Lazydays RV Resort, with world-class amenities, great food, and fun events for the whole family is a great spot to stay during the beginning or end of your trip. While in Tampa, make sure to catch a Lightning game at Amalie Arena, take a stroll along the River Walk or check out the Florida Aquarium.

Gulf Shores, AL

The name says it all. This quaint beach town along the Gulf of Mexico is as relaxing a place to visit during an RV road trip as it gets. White sand beaches stretch as far as the eye can see, making Gulf Shores seem like it’s part of the Caribbean, instead of the US. The town is home to The Track, a family recreation center with activities like bumper boats, the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo and great annual events like the Hangout Music Festival, where the main stage is right on the beach!

New Orleans, LA

The Big Easy is a must-visit if you’re planning an RV road trip in the South. New Orleans has it all; world-renowned food, rich culture, amazing history and fantastic people. From eating beignets and sipping chicory coffee at Café Du Monde to strolling Bourbon Street at night, NOLA is a southern staple. Other great activities include a day trip out to the bayou, ghost walking tours and popping into a café to hear a local Jazz musician. Laissez les bon temps rouler!

Nashville, TN

If you’re a Country music fan, Nashville is sure to be at the top of your list. Nashville is called Music City for a reason! It is where legends like Elvis Presley, Waylon Jennings and Dolly Parton lived and recorded some of their most famous hits. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is a great place to start for Country music lovers. Other music-themed attractions include the Grand Ole Opry, Bluebird Café and Historic RCA Studio B. If your trip takes you on an eastern route, stop by Lazydays RV Knoxville to pick up any additional RV accessories or take care of any immediate maintenance needs.

Savannah, GA

Georgia’s oldest city, Savannah, is a picturesque Southern staple. The city is teeming with history, including places like the Wormsloe Historic Site, Fort McAllister State Park and the Old Fort Jackson Historic Site to name a few. The City Market is a great place to sample local music, food or drinks. Also, a sunset stroll through Forsyth Park is a must during any trip to Savannah. Southern oak trees line the paths and the park has over 30 acres of natural splendor to enjoy.

These are just a few of the great places to visit during an RV road trip through the South. For more RV road trip ideas, check out our blog or get started with Lazydays RV trip planning services!
