RV travelers who have been to New Mexico know that it’s one of the top camping destinations in the country. Whether you’re interested in parking your RV among ancient hiking trails, sandstone cliffs, a fly-fishing paradise, fresh water lakes, forests or even ski hills, there’s a place in New Mexico to appeal to your interests. The following are three of our favorite New Mexico campgrounds, but with a selection so limitless, we won’t be surprised if you find a dream campground of your own.

Morphy Lake State Park Campground — Mora

The Morphy Lake State Park Campground is located roughly 100 miles northeast of Santa Fe, and it was once only accessed by four-wheel-drive vehicles. Now you can reach the site in your Lance Camper (they allow RVs up to 18-feet long) along paved access roads. The state park is nestled in the breathtaking Sangre de Cristo mountains, and the park’s signature lake sits 8,000 feet above sea level. Campers can enjoy fishing, boating, canoeing, birdwatching, hiking and simply taking in the breathtaking views.

City of Rocks State Park — Deming

Located halfway between Deming and Silver City, City of Rocks State Park is an outdoor playground for campers. The volcanic rock formations that created the park’s name make for a stunning backdrop for your weekend away from home. Visitors can enjoy mountain biking, hiking, stargazing, birdwatching and exploring a desert botanical garden — all within reach of the developed campsites.

Jemez Falls Campground — Santa Fe

The Jemez Falls Campground offers access to unbelievable New Mexico sightseeing, like the Valles Caldera National Preserve, Jemez Falls and Bandelier National Monument. Although, it’ll be tough to peel fly fishermen away from the Jemez River. The falls are just a .25-mile hike from the campground, and hot springs are just 2 miles away, so you can enjoy a weekend full of outdoor sports and relaxation. The campground offers 52 camp sites, and RVs up to 40 feet can be accommodated.
