The Super Bowl may be over, but you don’t have to leave the tailgate parties in football season. One of the greatest aspects of a tailgating party (aside from the awesome food) is the camaraderie among family, friends, and strangers alike. Tailgating and cookouts are especially popular here in the Sunshine State, so our team at Lazydays RV in Florida has compiled a list of tailgating tips and hacks to make your RV tailgate the main social hub at any event.

1. Make Your RV Distinguishable

If your tailgate celebration is one of many, then do a little something extra to stand out. Simple decorations like balloons, homemade signs, or banners do wonders. If you have friends meeting up with you, having decorations will also help them find their way to your RV.

2. Cook Up Some Tailgate Chili

Chili is an easy tailgate food to prepare, and one people are sure to enjoy because, well, who doesn’t love chili? The beans, ground beef, and sauce can easily be prepared in a crockpot ahead of time, and condiments can be served buffet style. Another idea? Forget the paper plates and bring along some snack-size bags of corn chips. Pour the chili right on top, and you have yourself a meal.

3. Provide Access to Your Bathroom

When tailgating, one of the biggest perks of traveling via RV is having access to a bathroom. To be the most popular tailgate party on the block, offer it up for your guests to use. Make sure to stock up on hand sanitizer or liquid soap for your guests as well.

4. Have Bug Repellant Handy

Mosquitoes abound in warm climates like those of Tampa and Tucson. Staffers from our Lazydays Tucson location recommend keeping a Citronella candle or torch close to the area where the food is served to protect your RV camping sitefrom these pesky insects.

5. Offer Individualized Cups

Help guests to keep track of their drink in a sea of cups. When stocking up on disposable dishes, pick up a few different colors of cups for guests to choose from, and keep a permanent marker on hand so that guests can write their name on theirs.

6. Use Plastic Bins for Storing Dishes

This is a simple but often overlooked RV life hack. Most likely, you’ll be using mostly disposable paper plates, but you may also have a few reusable dishes, serving bowls, and utensils that need to be washed back at home. In the meantime, a standard plastic bin is a great storage space for the dirty pans and plates.

7. Pack Your Cooking Utensils in a Toolbox

A toolbox isn’t just for tools--it can also be used as a portable storage compartment for all your cooking utensils like tongs, basting brushes, and spatulas. When guests see you pull your cooking gear out of a toolbox, they’ll know that you mean business the minute you fire up the grill. Using a toolbox also helps to contain the mess until you get a chance to wash your gear.

It’s Always a Good Time for a Tailgate Party

Football season has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean the party’s over! Both Lazydays in Tampa and Lazydays in Tucson provide tailgating gear at their respective accessories stores. Stop by and pick up a few items to make your next tailgate extra special. Additionally, our premier RV resorts are no stranger to tailgate festivities, so grab your friends and enjoy your party amongst our larger RV community.
